Meet the Team

Otis Massey
Otis grew up in Washington, DC and attended DC public schools with Ben and Nathan. Otis is a Youth Specialist at Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative. For the past 9 years, Otis has been working with students to reduce absences and succeed in school. He has a deep understanding of the local issues and extensive knowledge of community resources that assist youth.

Ben Lagos
Ben is a native Washingtonian and a 2nd year law student at UDC. A brown belt in BJJ with over ten years of experience, Ben is the lead instructor and architect of Jiu Jitsu Libre’s programming. Ben has owned and operated his own jiu-jitsu studio since 2016, He has competed and coached in IBJJF competitions. His vision is to combine his expertise in BJJ and Law to improve the lives of DC youth.

Nathan Young
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Nathan is an anthropologist with a passion for criminal justice reform. His research draws attention to the issues faced by marginalized populations at home and abroad. He has written articles on the refugee crisis in Europe, the politics of asylum and integration, and sport for development programs. He currently coaches youth soccer with Alexandria Soccer Association while also delivering after-school programming to Alexandria City Public Schools.
